5th International Contemporary Dance Festival KRoki 2017
Friday, May 12, 2017 - Sunday, May 21, 2017
Dance Community
Does the global crisis affect family quarrels? Is daily coexistence, free from conflict, possible? The 5th International Contemporary Dance Festival KRoki (12-21 May), under the banner Conflicted?, explores the complex issues around the subject. Using movement and their own bodies, choreographers and dancers from Israel, Ukraine, Egypt, Argentina, Poland and Germany attempt to answer some of these questions on the stage of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre and Małopolska Garden of Arts. The festival opens with Antes – a hypnotic spectacle by the Swiss ensemble Alias, in which twelve naked dancers demonstrate the harmonious existence of early human communities, free from conflict. We will also see the premiere of the Polish-German co-production Electrodomestics choreographed by Constanza Macras and Adham Hafiz, and a performance by the acclaimed Polish dance duo Wojciech Mochniej and Anna Krysiak. The Small KRoki event for kids features a performance Up Side Down which literally turns everything… upside down!
