Final Flight

“When are you going to come down?” he asked in the opening line of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. He has been rising ever higher ever since, earning him a knighthood and the informal title “Rocket Man”. Almost half a century later, Elton John decided it was time to change paths and devote himself to his family. But it’s hard to say goodbye to such a dazzling career. As well as high points – artistic achievements, successful charity work and fighting for equal rights – he has had his lows such as struggles with alcohol, drugs and bulimia. Some of the musician’s closest friends have been celebrities such as Princess Diana, Freddie Mercury and the Lennon and Beckham families. But his career has been most strongly influenced by his partnership with the poet Bernie Taupin who enriched John’s music with captivating lyrics. We will hear the duo’s greatest hits during the three-year-long farewell tour, visiting five continents. On 4 May, Elton John entertains Poland’s audiences for the final time: Tauron Arena Kraków will dazzle with rock 'n' roll with a sentimental undertone. (Bartosz Suchecki, “Karnet”)
