1, 2, 3: Reactivate!

The event drove the popularity of small jazz forms for many years, and without it we likely wouldn’t have had many of the duos and trios working on the Polish scene during the 1980s and 1990s. The Solo Duo Trio Festival has been immortalised in history and in living memory of artists and audiences. The My Polish Heart Foundation has listened to their voices and it is reactivating the event after a 17-year break.

On 22 May, the acclaimed pianist Dominik Wania performs at Pod Jaszczurami alongside Marek Bałata and Krzysztof Ścierański who have been involved with the festival from the start. We will also hear the young virtuoso of the Hammond organ Kajetan Galas with his trio, and the evening will smoothly turn into a jam session lasting well into the night. On 23 May, Serce hosts maverick improvisers led by Kuba Płużek, while the festival finale on 24 May at Proxima Nowy Theatre features the inspired American saxophonist James Carter with his trio.
