Reaching for the Stars

He taught himself guitar by watching YouTube tutorials and earned his first fans on Vine, so it’s no wonder that he feels perfectly at home in the era of streaming. His tracks are staggeringly popular the world over, and his singles Stitches and Treat You Better have been watched over a billion times each. Aged just 15, Shawn Mendes was the youngest artist in history to debut in the top 25 of the US Billboard Hot 100. But the appeal of his music goes beyond young pop fans – last year he performed for Queen Elizabeth II.

On 2 April, the Canadian artist plays in Poland for the first time as part of his third world tour. The 20-year-old musician comes to Tauron Arena Kraków to present material from his latest album, titled simply Shawn Mendes. But beware – this is not a concert you’d want to be late for! Support comes from Mendes’s compatriot Alessia Cara. Don’t be surprised if the artist headlines her very own tour soon! (Bartosz Suchecki, “Karnet”)
