Traps of Love

In popular music love has held many prisoners, such as Russ Columbo, Etta James and Bryan Ferry. If we talk about romantic one-hit wonders, there are even more: not many people can name more than one track by artists such as Nazareth, Soft Cell and Gotye. Tom Odell is working hard not to join their ranks! Since recording Another Love, which brought him international acclaim, he has been keeping clear of writing about his own feelings in favour of telling other people’s stories. Some of the protagonists of songs on his latest album Jubilee Road are a disillusioned chap from the lost generation and a habitual gambler. The British singer appears at Tauron Arena Kraków on 25 January, performing music for fans of his personal tracks and lovers of his talent for observation. The common denominator will be Odell’s emotional vocals, compared to the style of Jeff Buckley and Chris Martin. (Bartosz Suchecki, „Karnet”)
