The BUKOVINA Resort has long been involved in the development and promotion of the Podhale region nestled at the foot of the Tatras. As Partner for Kraków it also supports some of the largest cultural events in the capital of Małopolska. This time the resort is the main organiser of the first ever BUKOVINA Festival, held at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre on 20 October. The stage welcomes the Stanisław Słowiński Septet with the AUKSO Orchestra under the baton of Marek Moś, joined by regional ensembles from the Bukowina Tatrzańska village and commune.

The event opens with a staged traditional Highlander wedding ceremony, performed by folk ensembles from the Podhale and Spisz regions. The Bukowina Tatrzańska commune brings music ensembles from Bukowina Tatrzańska, Białka Tatrzańska, Leśnica-Groń, Jurgów and Czarna Góra.

The BUKOVINA Festival also features the premiere of Violin Concerto No. 1 “Visions” by the leading young jazz violinist Stanisław Słowiński. Słowiński’s composition is a precis of his artistic journey, inspired by major classical forms, jazz and improvised music. Known for his extraordinary technical skill and spontaneous performances, the musician debuted with the album Landscapes Too Easy to Explain, launched internationally by the acclaimed label Hevhetia. The follow-up Visions Between Love and Death, recorded with the Stanisław Słowiński Sextet, was highly acclaimed by critics and the public, with the promotional concert tour covering Europe and Asia.

During the BUKOVINA Festival, Słowiński will be accompanied by an ensemble of some of the finest European jazz musicians, and one of Europe’s finest chamber orchestras AUKSO led by conductor, violinist and arranger Marek Moś. The event closes with a joint performance by all artists invited to participate by the BUKOVINA Resort – Partner for Kraków.
