Cracow Art Week KRAKERS 2020
Sunday, October 18, 2020 - Sunday, October 25, 2020
“Art: An Open Concept”: this is the motto of this year’s Cracow Art Week KRAKERS; the event, usually held in spring, has been adapted to the current situation and takes us on a marathon journey to dozens of locations throughout Kraków. The sections “City”, “Laboratory” and “Fringe” feature private galleries, foundations, associations, public institutions and informal groups and initiatives. This year, to ensure the health and safety of the hosts and the public, the extensive programme of exhibition openings is replaced by fixed visiting hours. Meetings with artists and collectors, discussion panels, guided tours and workshops will also follow strict health and safety procedures; some will also be held online as live streams or recorded video. The event motto showcases the great diversity of artistic activities in Kraków, frequently stepping beyond the format of traditional exhibitions and reflecting myriad concepts of art, culture, society and individual attitudes. “We encourage our audiences to think about the concepts in which art is now seen as ‘something more’ or ‘something different’ than simply a subject of aesthetic contemplation (…). Who and what is art for? That’s the (open) question of this year’s KRAKERS,” promise the organisers from the Wschód Sztuki Foundation. (Dorota Dziunikowska, “Karnet” monthly)
