25th Bach Days
Saturday, March 21, 2020 - Sunday, March 29, 2020
The event has been cancelled!
The Academy of Music in Kraków kindly informs that all cultural events held by the Academy between 12 March and 15 April has been canceled over growing concerns related to the coronavirus outbreak.
Johann Sebastian Bach was wont to say that playing an instrument is easy enough – you just have to press the right keys at the right time, and the instrument will play by itself. Do students at the Academy of Music in Kraków agree with this view? They certainly never stop practising, and they will present their skills alongside their lecturers during the 25th Bach Days (21-29 March). The repertoire includes great masterpieces: Mass in B minor inaugurating the festival, The Art of Fugue providing a precis of the composer’s counterpoint knowledge, and the Goldberg Variations – one of the greatest achievements of this form, performed by the Norwegian harpsichord virtuoso Ketil Haugsand. We will also hear Bach a due voci for Baroque violin and cello, Bach/Funk for viola da gamba and Bach on pianoforte.
