The lizard is a timid thing that cannot dance or fly or sing.
He hunts for bugs beneath the floor and longs to be a dinosaur.
(“The Lizard”, John Gardner, children’s rhyme)

The Lizard House* is named after the stone emblem featuring entwined lizards. It is a copy of the original Gothic relief, now at the National Museum in Krakow. The building is also sometimes known as the Italian House.

* Pod Jaszczurami (Under the Lizards) is also the name of the oldest and most famous student club in Kraków.
