Living Tradition
The organisers of the 65th Kraków All Souls “Zaduszki” Jazz Festival (29-31 October) are maintaining the noble tradition of one of the longest-running jazz festivals in Europe. On 29 October, jazz resounds at three stages in Kraków: ICE Kraków welcomes Eskaubei & the Tomek Nowak Quartet and the Krzesimir Dębski & Tadeusz Sudnik duo presenting the theatre and music spectacle dedicated to the legendary populariser of jazz Leopold Tyrmand, the Piwnica pod Baranami presents Workaholic and friends, while Strefa welcomes Grzech Piotrowski with his project One World. A little further afield, at the Zieleniewski Manor House in Trzebinia, we will hear the trio comprising percussionist Sławomir Berny, guitarist Krzysztof Ścierański and saxophonist Marek Stryszowski. The latter also appears on 30 October at Mediateka in Wieliczka during the music spectacle But It Isn’t Evening Yet celebrating 50 years on stage; he will be joined by artists including Jan Nowicki, Cezary Chmiel, Tomasz Grochot and Magdalena Malik. The finale concert, held on 31 October at the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre, resounds with the Krzysztof Kobyliński and Maciek Pysz duo, Simon Raab Trio from Vienna, and Kraków's quartet OneNess founded by musicians formerly of The Cracow Klezmer Band.
