Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, Verdi... Arias from the most famous Italian operas will resound on the stage of the Kraków Opera performed by the soloists and Kraków Opera Orchestra and Choir. The evening Belcanto – the Joy of Singing commemorates the 60th anniversary of the artistic work of Ryszard Karczykowski, outstading tenor and director of the Kraków Opera in the years 2003–2006.

The repertoire comprises arias, ensembles and choral parts of the following operas Donizetti’s Don Pasquale and L’elisir d’amore, Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, Verdi’s Il trovatore and Rigoletto, as well as rarely heard on stage The Sicilian Vespers. The concert opens with the overture to Bellini’s Norma.

Its repertoire includes world classics (Carmen, Tosca, la Boheme), operettas (The Gypsy Baron, Die Fledermaus), and ballet and musical productions for children. Polish artists of world renown, notably Małgorzata Walewska, Mariusz Kwiecień, Andrzej Dobber, Wojtek Śmiłek, and Łukasz Borowicz, enjoy working with the Kraków Opera. The popularity of opera productions in Kraków makes it necessary to book tickets long in  advance. The artistic season of the Kraków opera ends on a powerful forte: a summer festival presenting musical productions amid the extraordinary scenery of Wawel Castle courtyard.

Guest performances by theatres and concerts can also be seen on the hospitable stage of the Kraków Opera.
