Afternoon with Strauss
Sunday, June 26, 2022, 4:00 PM
It's been a tradition in Wieliczka that Strauss' melodies herald the summer. The lightness of songs and danceable tunes are the trademarks of the members of this genius family, which will rule on the last Sundays of June, July, August and September on the outdoor stage of Wieliczka's Sztygarówka (building of the Music School Complex) thanks to the Afternoon with Strauss. The cycle has a tradition of almost 30 years, and in 1995 it was recognised by the Ministry of Culture and Art as the most interesting cultural event.
We will listen to the most beautiful arias and duets of operetta and musical, Neapolitan songs, waltzes, polkas and galops composed by the Strauss family and other Viennese composers. At 28 of August will sing Yuliya Ponomar (soprano) and Sławomir Naborczyk (tenor). The singers will traditionally be accompanied by the Obligato Strauss Orchestra conducted by Jerzy Sobeńko, and the whole event will be hosted by Jolanta Suder. The audience can expect a wonderful afternoon, full of beautiful music, good humour and great fun.
