“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything” Plato once claimed. And although this Greek philosopher stated this long ago, one would be hard-pressed to disagree with him today. Music permeates the entire world and is an indispensable part of human relations. This is because it carries emotions, strengthens memories, makes things fun and fosters relaxation. For this reason, getting in touch with music is so important for the comprehensive development of children. The world of sounds and melodies is also a universal way of communication, in which our languages cease to matter – we can communicate even though we speak Polish, Ukrainian or English. It also allows to express emotions, which are hard to describe with the right words. That is why listening to music can improve mental development and has a positive impact on the ability to express oneself and communicate with our surroundings.

This creative immersion into the world of music is something you can experience thanks to our Head Full of Culture: Music project. Each of the four meetings is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of sounds and find your own way of expressing yourself and communicating with your surroundings.

The meeting, intended for children up to 12 years of age, will take place outside at the Zgody 7 InfoKraków Information Point and Meeting Place.

7 August, 11:00 a.m.
A House Full of Sounds
- Polish-Ukrainian Lullabies
During the workshop we want to encourage children to actively join in the process of creating music. Using live instruments – including  colourful scarves, sashes and feathers, the presenters and participants will immerse themselves into the soothing sounds of lullabies. The workshop will employ methods of musicalisation developed by E.E. Gordon, B. Strauss and C. Orff, and the works will be performed in two languages - Polish and Ukrainian.
Host: A House Full of Sounds

Musical journey around the world

This musical workshop will be an interactive trip around the world, during which the participants will learn about interesting instruments from various corners of the globe, listen to their sounds and discover music played on them. They will also discover that one does not need real instruments to play music – everyday objects are often enough. We will create a small orchestra and play a concert together.

A Head Full of Culture
It is a special educational campaign carried out by the KBF and the Kids in Kraków brand aimed at parents and guardians, during which they will have the opportunity to learn why it is worth their while to teach children how to enjoy culture, what are the benefits of attending a concert, participating in a theatre play or going to a museum or the cinema. Was Pablo Picasso right in thinking that all children are born artists?
