The Mass Spectacle Foundation presents the 10th International Ukrainian Theatre Festival “East-West”.
Stages of Groteska and KTO theatres and the H. Jordan Youth Centre host over a thousand guests from Poland, Georgia, Latvia, Finland, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Armenia and 150 actors from war-torn Ukraine. This year’s motto Art Under Fire is highly evocative.
“Russian forces aren’t just murdering people in Ukraine – they are destroying the country’s culture. The brutal aggressors have been devastating theatres, cultural centres and museums for over a year, yet Ukrainian artists continue to create, work together and do what they can to make sure Ukraine’s voice resounds all over the world through art,” says Nadiia Moroz-Olshanska, director of the festival. The programme abounds with spectacles for children and adults, performative readings and exhibitions exploring the festival’s motto.
