There is a fenced in area on Szeroka street that is rumoured to have once been a cemetery. A legend of a Jewish wedding that ended in tragedy is connected with it.

The date of the wedding was to be a Friday, well before sundown, that is before the holy day of rest – the Sabbath. Neither a wedding nor a wedding party can be organised on the Sabbath, as this is a day entirely devoted to God. The merrymaking was protracted, and the evening was nearing a close. The time of the Sabbath came, and the wedding guests were disturbing the peace of the pious Jews who were praying in the Remuh Synagogue. They remained deaf even to the admonishing by Rabbi Mosses Isserles, that they were breaking the commandment to “observe the Sabbath day and keep it holy”. They were severely punished for the misdeed as all the guests died on the very same night. They were buried in a mass grave, which was promptly bricked up. Their sorrowful whispers and moans can still be heard to this day...
