Getting around Kraków

Most of historical Kraków – the City Centre with the Main Market Square, Wawel Hill with the Royal Castle and Cathedral, Kazimierz with the former Jewish district, and Podgórze with the former ghetto from the Second World War – can be visited on foot with ease. Drivers will find both getting around and parking difficult, and access to many locations impossible without special permits. Luckily, the distances between the furthest apart tourist attractions in the city centre are short and they do not exceed a couple of kilometres. Walking is also the best way of reaching the many secret corners of Kraków.

This, however, does not mean that the more distant parts of the city are not worth a visit. Districts situated further away from the centre are easily reachable by municipal transport (tram and bus) and bicycle.
