Electric cars

Instead of visiting the historical parts of Kraków on foot, you can take a ride in an electric car: in Poland buggies are often referred to as “Melex”. This saves you time and gives your legs a break. A single ride lets you see several sites in 30–45 minutes. The small vehicles are allowed to park in strategic locations across the city, for example, on ul. św. Jana in the Old Town or on ul. Szeroka in Kazimierz. They can also be ordered from InfoKraków points, venues selling tours and excursions, your hotel reception, or directly from the drivers. Most offer a selection of three tours of Kraków with audio guides: the City Centre, Kazimierz, and the former Jewish ghetto in Podgórze. There are 26 language versions available. The cost of the service depends on the number of passengers and the route selected. An approximate standard cost of a drive around the Old City for 4 people is PLN 150.

Bearing in mind the need to protect the cultural landscape of the Old Town and the safety of people using electric car transport services, the Mayor of the Municipality of Krakow conducted a competition for the entrepreneurs providing transport services using the vehicles at the Cultural Park of the Old Town. The competition defined the requirements to be met by the vehicles - in terms of having seat belts fitted, the body colour (dark beige), the age of the vehicle (a maximum of 5 years) and a confirmed technical efficiency required. The vehicles selected for the competition were provided with distinctive identifiers on their windshields. There are 70 of such electric car vehicles in our city. We encourage you to try out these vehicles.
