Kids in Kraków Guide

5 November 2018

Kids in Kraków takes us on an extraordinary journey through Kraków. “Let’s get to know an unusual side of the city – on the wings of the ubiquitous pigeons, in the footsteps of the Wawel Dragon and looking round through a magnifying glass!” says Barbara Fijał, editor of the Kids in Kraków Guide published by the Kraków Festival Office. It takes us to places shrouded in mystery, such as Second World War shelters concealing forgotten treasure, the Krzysztofory Palace intertwining tradition with modernity, the fascinating Museum of Municipal Engineering, the gravity-defying sculptures on the Fathe Bernatek Footbridge… The guide shows the way to the Singing Frog House and the site of the first powered flight in Poland, and reveals the hiding places of a bear who accompanied General Anders’ troops from Iran all the way to Scotland and the Aset-iri-khet-es mummy! You’ll discover the secrets of the tower of the Basilica of St. Mary, find out why the Rynek Główny is full of pigeons, learn how gyroscopes work and see which of Kraków’s districts looks like a fan from bird’s eye view.

The Kids in Kraków Guide presents six themed routes through the city’s districts. It intertwines historical facts with legends and anecdotes about Kraków. Every walk includes a map and a short story penned by acclaimed children’s author Melania Kapelusz, featuring Bajetan Boing the Cricket, Clement the Donkey, Polly the Piglet, Tony the Dragon, Pumps the Hamster and Matilda the Lamb and their adventures in Kraków.

You’ll find the free guide at InfoKraków Tourist Information Points!
