Due to circumstances beyond the organizer's control, the concert planned on 19 March has been cancelled. John Axelrod will perform with Sinfonietta Cracovia in Kraków on 15 November 2026 (new date of the concert).

What does someone who has led over 200 orchestras and opera productions over half a lifetime do? Keep conducting! John Axelrod returns to Krakow to celebrate 25 years of partnership with Sinfonietta Cracovia in concert. Between 2001 and 2009, the eminent American artist was guest conductor of the ensemble - together they delighted audiences with performances of romantic compositions by Robert Schumann, 20th-century works by Leonard Bernstein and John Williams’ score for the Star Wars saga. This time, the programme will feature quartet masterpieces by Ludwig van Beethoven (String Quartet in F minor 'Serioso') and Franz Schubert (String Quartet in D minor 'Death and the Maiden') arranged by Gustav Mahler for string orchestra, as well as the famous Adagietto from the composer's Symphony No. 5.
