Zoological Garden
Lasek Wolski, ul. Kasy Oszczędności Miasta Krakowa 14
The Zoological Garden in Kraków has a distinctive, cosy character. Its situation in Lasek Wolski forest makes it an ideal destination for family walks and leisure. Around 1500 animals live in the zoo, with over 250 species, including elephants, lions, and camels. In June 2016, an enclosure for Humboldt penguins was opened, and the birds roost on a rocky beach and artificial rocks, swimming in two pools. Since its opening in 1929, the Kraków zoo has been a breeding centre, where many precious species have been reproduced. Their number includes the great condor, Pygmy slow loris, white-handed gibbon, chimpanzee, cotton-top tamarin, fennec fox, and Przewalski’s horse.
The zoo runs a mini-zoo for children on its premises, where the youngest visitors may not only see but also pet and feed the animals.
Access by bus 134 from ul. Kałuży (near the Cracovia Hotel).
