A combination of an archaeological and architectural site with a traditional exhibition and multimedia presentations to help us imagine how the developments on Wawel Hill have changed over the centuries. The exhibition is organised around one of the oldest monuments of architecture in Poland: the Rotunda of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The stone edifice in the form of a drum with four adjacent apses was built directly on the rock, perhaps even before 1000 AD, and its remnants were discovered in 1917. Objects from archaeological studies and models of structures that used to grace Wawel Hill are exhibited here besides specimens of architecture from various periods of development of the hill. You can also admire  a collection of Renaissance stove tiles, stone sculptures, and architectural elements obtained during conservation works and archaeological digs that have been conducted on Wawel Hill for over a century.
