Today’s repertoire of the Ludowy consists of comedies, Polish and European classics, contemporary drama, and productions for children.
The first theatre in Nowa Huta. Opened in 1955, it was to be a present from the communist authorities to the working people. The theatre has its seat in a building designed by Jan Dąbrowski, and Marta and Janusz Ingarden, and it is a leading example of architecture of socialist realism. In contrast with its original mission, it became one of the most innovative stages in Poland. Today’s repertoire of the Ludowy consists of comedies, Polish and European classics, contemporary drama, and productions for children.
