Gospel music is growing in popularity in Poland, with Kraków leading the way: let’s remember that the city hosts its very own gospel festival! It’s no wonder, then, that Karen Edwards returns regularly to our city to join the Kraków Philharmonic Choir. The American vocalist and pianist started her music career singing in a choir at a Baptist church. She sings and plays in clubs and music theatres in New York and Los Angeles, performs at important jazz festivals all over Europe and frequently visits Poland: her appearance at the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice in 2017 is becoming the stuff of legend. She has been joined on stage by world-famous artists including Stevie Wonder, Peabo Bryson, Tony Bennet and Prince, and she worked with Jarek Śmietana for many years, with the pair releasing the album Everything Ice. Her concerts are filled with joy and positive energy – just like gospel itself!

Besides their weekly symphony concerts, the Kraków Philharmonic also organises master recitals and educational concerts for children and young people.

The Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic Hall in Kraków was the first philharmonic to open in Poland after the Second World War. Besides the weekly symphony concerts, it organises master recitals and educational concerts for children and young people, while the summer meetings with music assume the form of chamber concerts of slightly lighter character. A hallmark of the Kraków Philharmonic repertoire is its programme of oratorios, which the Philharmonic can present thanks to its extensive and varied lineup: the orchestra, mixed choir, and boys choir. The Kraków Philharmonic has become recognised for its promotion of the works of Karol Szymanowski in Poland and abroad.

The Philharmonic Hall frequently hosts concerts by special guests, for example, at major festivals.
