Sometimes it goes like this: secrets from the past, unrequited love and intrigues of the villains. Sometimes it is the frivolity that prevails, love is all around us and the stage is taken by a brisk mazurka and ‎a vibrant csárdás. All this and much more awaits us during the 24th Kraków Opera Summer Festival. At the stage at Lubicz Street, we will hear grand dramas: Tosca, Carmen and Il trovatore, the best opera comedy of all time: The Marriage of Figaro, and romantic and patriotic The Haunted Manor. The affirmation of life and its pleasures in the scenic cantata Carmina Burana and operetta The Gypsy Baron will be presented in the beautiful setting of the Botanical Garden. We can also meet The Impresario… or Mozartian one-act, a type of an operatic divertimento, penned on commission of the emperor Joseph II and staged during one of the parties at Schönbrunn. And for one special Theatre Night, the festival stage turns into the catwalk: during the opera fashion show and a ballet performance at the same time we will see nearly 100 costumes designed for the Kraków Opera in the last 50 years.
