Stand with Ukraine! As the second anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine approaches, it’s crucial to remember that violating the borders of an independent state goes against fundamental principles of international law and peaceful coexistence. Beyond the immediate horrors of war – the destruction of cities and villages, the loss of loved ones – there is a systematic effort to erode Ukraine's cultural heritage. When the aim is to undermine Ukrainian society, preserving its cultural and scientific legacy becomes paramount for the nation’s future. Authoritarian regimes consistently view culture as a threat to their power, as it fosters reflection on the world and critical thinking.
On the eve of February 24th, we invite students from Ukraine who co-create the communities of Krakow universities as well as our Ukrainian neighbours and all who wish to stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. Join us for a gathering dedicated to celebrating Ukrainian culture. The event will feature such speakers as Larysa Dovga (uculture), Iryna Fesiuk (Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University), Katarzyna Glinianowicz and Tomasz Hodana (Department of Ukrainian Studies, Jagiellonian University). The meeting will be enhanced by a musical performance by Dmytro Holovenko.
