From Benedetto Marcello’s baroque sonata to the world premiere of Bartosz Witkowski’s rhapsody for violin and piano Orpheus and Eurydice, from Chopin’s intimate preludes to Beethoven’s great Ninth Symphony (albeit in a Lisztian arrangement for two pianos) – welcome to the 11th Kraków Music Autumn! During a few days of this festival of chamber music, we will admire violinist Oriana Masternak and pianist Justyna Danczowska, Piotr Lato and Maciej Zimka in clarinet and accordion performances of works ranging from Bach to Piazzolla, a hope of the Polish piano scene – 20-year-old Mateusz Dubiel, and the Hyuk and Hyo Lee brothers (in addition to a work by Beethoven, this piano duet will present also Arthur Benjamin’s 6 Caribbean Pieces). At the finale of the festival, the Poldowski String Quartet will perform the compositions of Roxanna Panufnik and their patron Irene Poldowski, Henryk Wieniawski’s daughter, in the (Non)Daughters programme.

Kraków Philharmonic Hall

Besides their weekly symphony concerts, the Kraków Philharmonic also organises master recitals and educational concerts for children and young people.

The Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic Hall in Kraków was the first philharmonic to open in Poland after the Second World War. Besides the weekly symphony concerts, it organises master recitals and educational concerts for children and young people, while the summer meetings with music assume the form of chamber concerts of slightly lighter character. A hallmark of the Kraków Philharmonic repertoire is its programme of oratorios, which the Philharmonic can present thanks to its extensive and varied lineup: the orchestra, mixed choir, and boys choir. The Kraków Philharmonic has become recognised for its promotion of the works of Karol Szymanowski in Poland and abroad.

The Philharmonic Hall frequently hosts concerts by special guests, for example, at major festivals.
