21st Prof. Jan Jargoń International Organ All Souls Festival
Wednesday, October 30, 2024, 8:00 PM
Numerous recordings, a sizeable group of alumni, organ sound projects for the Music Academy in Krakow and at the Ark of the Lord Church, the rescue of historical instruments – these are just some of the contributions of the Kraków-based virtuoso, pedagogue and composer, patron of the 21st Prof. Jan Jargoń International Organ All Souls Festival. During the festival, we will listen to a programme devoted to organ variations over the centuries (Tomasz Adam Nowak, inaugural evening), a selection of compositions by German masters (Jörg-Hannes Hahn, Daniel Beilschmidt) or a recital by Henryk Jan Botor on the 40th anniversary of the construction of the instrument in the Pauline Basilica. Renata Marcinkutė Lesieur, the organist of St Casimir's Church in Vilnius, will focus on the music of Central and Eastern Europe (Lithuania’s Čiurlionis and Kuprevičius, Czechia’s Eben, Latvia’s Kalejs). For the finale, Dariusz Bąkowski-Kois (organ, artistic co-director of the festival) and Wiesław Suruło (piccolo flute) will present Baroque masterpieces by Vivaldi and Händel.
