An unparalleled master of Polish music, sounds straight from American cinema and the premiere of a jubilee piece – Sinfonietta Cracovia closes its 30th anniversary year with the Penderecki | Korzeniowski gala. The first part of the concert, showing the different faces of Krzysztof Penderecki's music, will be conducted by the ensemble's artistic director Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak. The second movement will feature music by Abel Korzeniowski conducted by the composer himself, including the Unexpected Gravity of Green Flowers – a piece commissioned by the orchestra. The Sinfonietta will be accompanied by pianist Szymon Nehring and clarinettist Andrzej Ciepliński. It is worth mentioning a very personal feature of the gala programme: the master-student relationship between Krzysztof Penderecki and Abel Korzeniowski (the composer, who fulfils the American dream in Hollywood today, was a student of the Maestro at the Kraków Academy of Music), and the professor's support and friendship that Sinfonietta Cracovia could pride itself on since its foundation 30 years ago.
