The genetic code of our ancestors, the origins of the universe, the language of apes or artificial intelligence – there are issues in science that are still shrouded in mystery (at least to some extent!). We will be introduced to the meanders of the secrets of science by festival guests: Zuzana Hofmanová will talk about the information preserved in fragments of ancient DNA, Ruth Durrer will introduce the latest theories on dark energy, Stanislas Dehaene will outline the complexity of cognitive processes in the brain, Klaus Zuberbuehler will present progress in animal communication research, and Terry Sejnowski will take us on a journey into the depths of neuroinformatics. In the Conversations of the Masters series, we will meet astrophysicist Marek Abramowicz, behavioural biologist Małgorzata Arlet or mathematician Jacek Tabor, while Confrontations will revolve around space and artificial intelligence. A review of documentaries awaits us at the Pod Baranami Cinema (including Natalia Koryncka-Gruz’s Simona and Małgorzata Szyszka’s Magia Podlasia. Szeptuchy [The Magic of Podlasie. The Whisperers]. A new feature is the Inventio section dedicated to modern technologies – we will inaugurate it with a discussion on such topics as quantum computers.
