Opera goes outdoors – this is the hallmark of the festival with which the stage at Lubicz Street welcomes the arrival of summer. The culmination of its 26th edition will be performances in the Wawel arcade courtyard, which will see as many as three opera heroines walking on the castle hill: Tosca, Aida and – how else! – Queen Bona Sforza, the protagonist of one of the Kraków Opera’s latest productions: Zygmunt Krauze’s work with a libretto by Vincenzo de Vivo, which made its stage debut last November. Amidst the greenery we will hear a concert on the occasion of the Kraków Opera’s 70th anniversary Operetta in the Garden, or Where Love Lives. The best-loved melodies from operettas and musicals (including Die Fledermaus, The Merry Widow, The Csárdás Princess, My Fair Lady and Fiddler on the Roof) will be presented on stage in the Botanic Garden by guests, including: Krystyna Tyburowska, Bożena Zawiślak-Dolny and Andrzej Biegun, as well as soloists, the OK Choir, Orchestra and Ballet. The festival also features a gala concert with Polityka’s Passport winner Gabriela Legun, Nabucco – Verdi’s hit set in ancient Babylonia, a presentation by students of the ballet studio, and performances Music and Magic and The Fisherman and His Wife for children, as well as concerts throughout Małopolska in July and August.
