The richness of the organ literature and the talent of the artists combine with the beauty of the historic interiors and the capabilities of Kraków instruments here. The International Festival Summer Organ Concerts will be opened by its artistic director Dariusz Bąkowski-Kois, who will present the Iberian music of the mid-17th century on a newly reconstructed Renaissance instrument in the Tyniec Church of the Benedictines. The series of master recitals will also include organ hits – Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor or Léon Boëllmann’s Suite gothique – interpreted by Roman Perucki from Gdańsk, works by German Romantics performed by Brussels-based guest Bart Jacobs, contemporary compositions by artists from Latvia (Ilona Birģele) and Estonia (Kadri Ploompuu), improvisations by Salvatore Pronestì in the concert Brilliance of Italian Music, and family music-making with the organist of the Wawel Cathedral Witold Zalewski and his daughter Hanna. The sounds of the organ will resound not only in the more than 1,000-year-old abbey in Tyniec, but also within the medieval walls of the Basilica of the Dominicans and the modernist interiors of the churches of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ and Saint Stephen.
