Throughout the summer holidays, apart from a permanent educational exhibition with more than 100 interactive experimental stations, the Cogiteon Małopolska Science Centre will also feature around 100 works by Andy Warhol, most of which have never been exhibited in Poland before. In addition to painterly compositions created by the mass culture icon – including the famous screen-printed portraits of Marilyn Monroe and the Sculls and Flowers series – visitors can see handwritten sketches, books, clothes and other objects belonging to the artist, as well as photographs taken by Billy Name and Rudo Prekop. As the organisers emphasise, the exhibition at the Cogiteon is not strictly museum-based and limited to the visual aspect alone. Warhol’s work is subjected here to a scientific analysis presented in the form of an audiovisual setting prepared by specialists from Kraków universities: the Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Music, the aim of which was to make the reception of the works on display more dynamic through a specific impact on our senses. The works and objects shown at the exhibition come from the collection of the Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art in Medzilaborce, Slovakia. The exhibition is accompanied by art workshops and film screenings.
