In addition to classical sounds, this event also offers room for silence, science, technology and performance – the SILENCE Music Festival presents classical music in a bold, innovative and ostensibly non-classical way. This year, the organisers have planned pieces for people, sheep and goats (Plan Beeeeee) and the piano (Music of Immortality). The listeners will also enjoy the State of Matter performance with classical and alchemical music, Frederic Rzewski’s monumental piano composition The People United Will Never Be Defeated! (played by Kai Schumacher) complemented by projections by Jan K. Argasiński based on drawings by people on the autism spectrum, and Baroque Disco – a rave to the sounds of Pachelbel, Rameau, Purcell and Lully (managed by composer Piotr Peszat), hosted by Andrzej Sołtysik in a historic Kraków church. But wait, there is more! We will also hear Nina Gurol’s personal diary in the form of a piano recital, Miracles on a Button, or Wiesław Ochwat’s accordion in dialogue with the harpsichord, and the leading Polish chamber musicians – the Meccore String Quartet in Janáček’s String Quartet No. 1 “Kreutzer Sonata”, inspired by Tolstoy’s novella. SILENCE Music Festival sounds strong!
