Bold, open to new ideas, looking underneath the lining of the genre...  Opera Rara Kraków returns with the autumn edition! The inauguration on World Opera Day will bring Monteverdi madrigals performed by Capella Cracoviensis. Then, the festival hosts will invite us to an ‘experimental laboratory of the performing and visual arts’, where students and young graduates of music and fine arts academies, as well as theatre and film schools, inspired by Molière’s play, Mozart’s opera and Byron’s poem, will create a new interpretation of the myth of Don Juan. November will bring the traditional performance of Mozart’s Requiem conducted by Wim Becu. The festival’s repertoire includes the opera Liebesfluch by Hans Kraus-Hübner, prepared by the Spóldzielnia Muzyczna Contemporary Ensemble and dedicated to the poet Georg Trakl, who died tragically in 1914, and Semele by Handel, escaping the borders of genres, in which CC will perform together with Christina Pluhar. The story of Orpheus and Eurydice presented in two ways, albeit from under the pen of one artist, i.e. the presentation of the Viennese (1762) and Parisian (1774) versions of Gluck’s opera, will reveal to us the secrets of the composer’s craft. In the finale, CC and Christina Pluhar will remind us with Handel’s brilliant Messiah that Christmas is coming soon!
