The fifth edition of the scientific and artistic session Faces of the Violin, organized by the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, will be devoted to Jewish music and its multifaceted presence in violin literature.

This year's instalment of the project includes three concerts combined with short lectures, presenting works by outstanding composers of Jewish descent as well as masterpieces of world literature inspired by Hasidic, klezmer, liturgical, and folkloric traditions.

Mieczysław Weinberg – On the 30th Anniversary of the Composer's Death
A concert commemorating one of the most important composers of the 20th century, with the participation of faculty from the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music.
In programme: Piano Quintet and Jewish Songs
The event will be preceded by a lecture by Dr. Maria Sławek on Weinberg's works.
The following speakers will perform: Dr. Maria Sławek, Dr. Łukasz Syrnicki, Dr. Aleksander Daszkiewicz, Dr. Monika Krasicka-Gajownik, Dr. Joanna Freszel (AMKP), and Dr. Łukasz Chrzęszczyk (UMFC).

A concert presenting rarely performed works by Eta Tyrmand, Mieczysław Weinberg, Grzegorz Fitelberg, and Józef Koffler, performed by Dr. Maria Sławek (violin) and Dr. Piotr Sałajczyk (piano).

Masterpieces of World Violin Literature Inspired by Jewish Culture
A concert dedicated to the works of composers drawing from Jewish tradition—from Klezmer motifs to liturgical and folklore inspirations—performed by teachers and students of the Department of Violin and Viola at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków.
