Over 20 world premieres and 18 Polish premieres – the Kraków International Festival of Composers offers insights into the new and contemporary in music. As always, the works of composers associated with Kraków will be an important starting point: from Krzysztof Penderecki, through Wojciech Widłak and Marcel Chyrzyński, to Franciszek Araszkiewicz and Michał Dorman, and a broad international panorama will provide the backdrop. This year's special guest will be Dai Fujikura, a composer born in Japan and based in London for many years, who draws inspiration from both the European avant-garde and the musical traditions of his country of origin. We will commemorate Sylvano Bussotti (on the 95th anniversary of his birth and the 5th anniversary of his death) and meet with Józef Rychlik – the composer's 80th birthday will be combined with the launch of a book by Agnieszka Draus. The richness of creative imagination in works for such impossible line-ups as bass flute, accordion, cello and drums, two accordions, oboe, clarinet and bassoon, modular synthesizers, an improvising flautist and electronics will be presented by, among others, the Slovak Quasars Ensemble, duoAccosphere, LLLeggiero Woodwind Trio, Metropolis Piano Quartet, and the Studio of Electroacoustic Music of the Krakow Academy of Music.
