‘The theme of this year’s edition draws our attention to what remains after the sound has faded: to memory, resonance and emotions that do not fade away with the final chord’ – this is how the organisers explain their concept for the 14th Music Festival Emanacje: Reverbs. We will have a chance to hear them during the opening concert Stradivarius Meets Jazz, at which Janusz Wawrowski – playing the ‘Polonia’ violin crafted by a famous luthier in 1685 – will explore improvisation and rhythmic freedom in Grażyna Bacewicz’s classical works. By the end of August, the concert hall of the European Music Centre in Lusławice and the grounds of the manor and park complex will also host performances by accordionist Klaudiusz Baran, the Neuma Quartet, jazz saxophonist Henryk Miśkiewicz, Sinfonietta Cracovia and the Amadeus Orchestra, among others. In Nowy Wiśnicz, reinterpretations of melodies from Andrzej Wajda’s films will be performed to mark the centenary of the director’s birth; in Lanckorona, Emanacje will join forces with the Terra Artis Festival for a guitar recital by Lorenzo Michele; and in Kraków, they will take part in the Horn in the City of Kings French horn symposium.
