“Until now, no orchestra working today has taken on a challenge on this scale and engaging the musicians and the public to this extent,” admits Capella Cracoviensis. The Kraków ensemble doesn’t shy away from unusual, bizarre and large-scale projects, but this is something else. Get ready for Beethoven Extreme: one day, one genius and nine symphonies! Yes, you read that right: on 27 August, we’ll be able to hear the full set of Beethoven’s symphonies. The event, starting at 11am and culminating at 10pm, features Capella Cracoviensis with eminent guests. Symphonies No. 1 and 2 will be led by Paul Goodwin, and in the next two – including the revolutionary Eroica – Capella Cracoviensis will be led by Christophe Rousset. Symphonies No. 5 and 6 – Fate and Pastoral – come under the baton of Eivind Gullberg Jensen, the expansive Nos. 7 and 8 are conducted by Evelino Pidò, and in the grand finale, Symphony No. 9 with its famous Ode To Joy is led by Capella Cracoviensis’ director Jan Tomasz Adamus. To conserve the energy of musicians and listeners, the marathon has been divided into four blocks. You can come to any or all of them and spend as much of your day as you like at ICE Kraków Congress Centre – for those who can literally listen to Beethoven around the clock this will be the highlight of the summer!
