Is there anything missing from here? Poppy flowers, cornflowers, and thistles, Gothic arches, spires, and all the tracery, men at arms chasing deer, and St George, clad in armour gallantly killing the dragon – the unique polychrome murals from 15th/16th centuries cover all the ceilings and walls of the wooden church in Dębno. Local legend makes brigands who had a vision of St Michael the Archangel build the church here. Yet who its architects actually were remains unknown, although we are still captivated by their talent: made of fir and larch timber, the structure does not use a single nail. In 2003 the beauty, quality, and precious furnishing and decoration had the Church of the Archangel Michael inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The church is part of the Małopolska Wooden Architecture Route.
