Is this a church or an art gallery? Built around 1500, the little wooden Church of the Archangel Michael in Binarowa lets you become truly awestruck with the altar glittering with gold, Gothic bas-reliefs with the virgin saints Barbara, Dorothy, Catherine and Margaret, and the painting of the Blessed Virgin with Infant Jesus, famous for graces. The vegetal murals on the ceilings date back to the early 16th century, that is the time when the church was built, while the walls attract the eye with Baroque scenes from the New Testament and painted depictions of nearby Biecz, a town called “little Kraków”, to which we certainly recommend a visit! Entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2003, the church belongs to the Małopolska Wooden Architecture Route.
