Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem intertwines reflection on the fragility of human existence with hope for eternal life after death. The composition which has been performed at such diverse venues as La Scala in Milan and the Theresienstadt concentration camp during the Second World War returns to the repertoire of the Krakow Opera after a few years. We will hear it on 13 April at the Church of St Maximilian Maria Kolbe in Oświęcim and again on 14 April (Palm Sunday) at the Krakow Opera. Solo parts are performer by Katarzyna Oleś-Blacha (soprano), Anna Lubańska (alto), Mihail Mihaylov (tenor) and Volodymyr Pankiv (bass).
