Cortege of the Three Wise Men 2023
Friday, January 6, 2023, 11:00 AM-12:30 PM
“We Three Kings of Orient are, bearing gifts we traverse afar,” we sing along with the popular carol. On 6 January, the tenth Cortege of the Three Wise Men sets off from three different points in Kraków to adore the Baby Jesus and offer him gifts. The red cortege, representing Europe, follows the star from Wawel along Grodzka Street. The green pageant, representing Asia, walks from the Villages of the World Park along Dębnicki Bridge, Retoryka Street, Planty Park and Szewska Street, while the blue parade of Africa sets off from Matejki Square and heads along Floriańska Street. The corteges are accompanied by carollers, schoolkids dressed up as knights and ladies, musicians (including Kapela z Bronowic) and the Lajkonik! The main attraction will be a model elephant pulled along on a platform. The pageants meet at the Main Market Square where the Holy Family awaits on the stage. The event closes with a nativity play and carol singing.
